Upgrading SessionLimit to 2.1.2

Upgrade

The SessionLimit 2.1.2 version is now available! This release brings significant improvements to both server and client components, enhancing usability, control, and performance.

Server-Side Changes

• Now runs on .NET Core 8 Hosting Bundle

  The .NET Core 8 Hosting Bundle must be installed before upgrading.

• Main Dashboard: Only the Top 100 Active Sessions are displayed for better performance and clarity.

• End-User Self-Control Enhancements:

  • Users can now terminate their own interactive or remote sessions from the web portal.

  • Previously, users could only see sessions on other computers; now they can terminate these during login via the agent.

• New Help Desk Role:

  • Help desk users can reset 2FA and terminate sessions via the web portal.

Upgrade Information

• You can upgrade from any previous SessionLimit version to 2.1.2.

• .NET Core 8 Hosting Bundle must be installed beforehand.

• Required permissions:

  • db_owner on the SessionLimit database during upgrade

  • Local Administrator on the SessionLimit server

Upgrade Guide (Step-by-Step)

1. Run the Setup Application and click Install.

2. After installation completes, click Finish.

3. FTW.exe will launch automatically (if not, run it manually from C:\Program Files\SessionLimit Server 2.0\FTW).

4. Click Yes to use the existing configuration file.

5. On the Welcome screen, click Next.

6. Select “Upgrade Existing SessionLimit 2.0.X to version 2.1.2” and click Next.

7. Verify Database Information (update if necessary).

8. Ensure no failed prerequisites are shown, then click Next.

1. When “Upgrade Completed Successfully” appears, click Close.

1. Restart IIS from Internet Information Services.

2. Log into the SessionLimit Web Portal and confirm version 2.1.2 is displayed at the bottom.
