# Upgrading SessionLimit to 2.1.3

### What’s New in 2.1.3

#### Server-Side Enhancements

* Now running on **.NET Core 8 Hosting Bundle**

  > Ensure .NET Core 8 Hosting Bundle is installed **before upgrading**.
* **Dashboard** performance improved by limiting view to **Top 100 Active Sessions**.
* **End-user control enhancements**:
  * Users can terminate their own **interactive and/or remote sessions** from the **web portal**.
  * Users can now also terminate sessions on other computers **during login via the agent**.
* **Help Desk Role** added:
  * Allows help desk staff to **reset 2FA** and **terminate sessions** via the portal.
* **2FA priority support** introduced.
* **Cache architecture** improvements for enhanced system responsiveness.

### Upgrade Eligibility

* Upgrade available from **any prior SessionLimit version**.
* Must install the **.NET Core 8 Hosting Bundle** beforehand.
* Required Permissions:
  * `db_owner` on the SessionLimit database
  * Local Administrator on the SessionLimit server

### Upgrade Guide – Step by Step

1. Launch the **Setup Application**, then click **Install**.
2. After installation, click **Finish**.
3. **FTW\.exe** will start automatically. If not, run it manually from:\
   `C:\Program Files\SessionLimit Server 2.0\FTW\FTW.exe`
4. Click **Yes** when prompted to use the existing configuration file.
5. Click **Next** on the **Welcome Screen**.
6. Select **“Upgrade Existing SessionLimit 2.0.X to version 2.1.3”** and click **Next**.
7. Verify **database connection info**. If needed, update the Server Name, Port, or Database Name.\
   \&#xNAN;*(Path values are not important during upgrade.)*
8. Confirm all **prerequisites** are passed (no red failures), then click **Next**.
9. Once **“Upgrade Completed Successfully”** appears, click **Close**.
10. **Restart the IIS service** from the Internet Information Services Manager.
11. Open the **SessionLimit Web Portal** and verify **version 2.1.3** appears at the bottom of the page.
