Server-Side Enhancements

• Now running on .NET Core 8 Hosting Bundle

  Ensure .NET Core 8 Hosting Bundle is installed before upgrading.

• Dashboard performance improved by limiting view to Top 100 Active Sessions.

• End-user control enhancements:

  • Users can terminate their own interactive and/or remote sessions from the web portal.

  • Users can now also terminate sessions on other computers during login via the agent.

• Help Desk Role added:

  • Allows help desk staff to reset 2FA and terminate sessions via the portal.

• 2FA priority support introduced.

• Cache architecture improvements for enhanced system responsiveness.

Upgrade Eligibility

• Upgrade available from any prior SessionLimit version.

• Must install the .NET Core 8 Hosting Bundle beforehand.

• Required Permissions:

  • db_owner on the SessionLimit database

  • Local Administrator on the SessionLimit server

Upgrade Guide – Step by Step

1. Launch the Setup Application, then click Install.

2. After installation, click Finish.

3. FTW.exe will start automatically. If not, run it manually from: C:\Program Files\SessionLimit Server 2.0\FTW\FTW.exe

4. Click Yes when prompted to use the existing configuration file.

5. Click Next on the Welcome Screen.

6. Select “Upgrade Existing SessionLimit 2.0.X to version 2.1.3” and click Next.

7. Verify database connection info. If needed, update the Server Name, Port, or Database Name. (Path values are not important during upgrade.)

8. Confirm all prerequisites are passed (no red failures), then click Next.

9. Once “Upgrade Completed Successfully” appears, click Close.

10. Restart the IIS service from the Internet Information Services Manager.

11. Open the SessionLimit Web Portal and verify version 2.1.3 appears at the bottom of the page.
